White Water Rafting

White Water Rafting

White Water Rafting is very popular in Namibia and can be done on all three rivers on Namibia’s Border – the Kunene, the Orange River and the Okavango.

The Kunene River is Namibia’s main white-water rafting destination, promising the infamous Ondorusa Rapids, waterfalls, crocodiles and adventure. When you are off the river you can relax in riverside pools, watch the wildlife and soak up the wilderness atmosphere.

Terra Nova can organize a rafting trip of a lifetime, as well as unique accommodation on the Kunene River, some 100km east of Epupa Falls.  Expeditions to the Falls include the thrills and spills of the rapids, while shorter local trips explore the Ondorusu Gorge.  The Epupa Falls are the highlight of the river.  Here, the Kunene breaks up into several channels before hurtling into a deep chasm. The best time to visit is from March to September, when the heat is bearable and the rapids flow fast. On the Okavango we make base at Camp Ngepi, one of Namibia’s best kept secrets.  From here we head about 30km upstream to an area which is untouched and “lost to the world”.  From here you launch into the paradise on inflatable canoes and the guide will take you through magnificent islands and rapids.

You have the choice of a full day trip or overnight on a secluded island where everything is provided for a night out in the bush. On your last day you will be going over the rapids at Popa Falls from where you will be collected and taken back to Ngepi Camp.
