Northern Namibia: Otjikondo School and Orphanage

– located between Kamanjab and Outjo

In 1989, Reiner and Gillian Stommel purchased the farm Otjikondo and decided to renovate the old buildings and turn them into a Primary School for underprivileged Namibian children.  The Otjikondo School Village was established and registered as NGO of which the Hanns-Seidel Foundation became a partner in the development of the project.

The project aims to offer academic opportunities to give poor children a future perspective in a global world. Therefore Otjikondo offers high quality education and encourages a programme of afternoon activities and extra lessons to enable the children to discover talents and interests. Reiner and Gillian Stommel continue to guide and develop the Otjikondo School Village project. Their and the contribution of visitors show what can be achieved through private initiative for the benefit of Namibian children.
Our guests are able to visit to the school and get an insight of the day to day life. Donations of school materials are very welcome.
